raggedy

i am a rag-doll

in the hands of time

floppy and pliant

shy not defiant

battered around

feet off the ground

I am with you

for many reasons

you never let go of me

though i'm ragged and frayed

never betrayed

hugged and caressed

thrown on the chest

kicked and revered

booed and i'm cheered

at the end of the day

at the end of the play

you lay with me and smile

dumped on twisted

feet on the ground

embraced and disgraced

never encased as i dance
